Library Offers Summer Reading Program
Nancy McLaughlin, director of the Chester Springs Library, recently announced that the library's Summer Reading Club will begin on Monday, June 11. This year's theme is "Dream Big, Read!" Children and their parents are invited to stop by the library to sign up for the program and receive their Summer Reading Club folder, which includes reading records in which youngsters may keep track of how much time they read each day. Each week, young patrons will be asked to bring their completed reading records to the library. Those who read 30 minutes a day for five days in the week will earn a ticket. Those who read every day will earn a bonus ticket. Youngsters between the ages of 6 and 11 may also earn an extra ticket by writing a sentence or short paragraph with the topic, "What do you dream about?" Each week, the library will hold a random drawing from the tickets, with a prize for one boy and one girl. The Summer Reading Club, which is for children of all ages, will end on Sunday, Aug. 5. In addition, special programs and workshops have been scheduled throughout the summer. On Fridays, June 15, 22, 29 and July 6, a guitar workshop will be featured at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn the fundamentals of playing the guitar in four lessons by Michael Good from Soundboard Music School.
